There is a light stretcher mark across the upper border and a very faint stratcher mark running down the right hand border. Also scattered spots of paint separation to the foreground along the lower border. Ultraviolet light reveals scattered spots of retouching to the sky, mainly clustered to the upper right and left corners, and a spot to the centre lower edge. There are also suggestions of retouching to the outline of the huntsman and white hound, plus scattered spots to horse and hounds under an uneven varnish. Held in a decorative gilded composite frame with a backboard fixed to the back.
