Description

  • Dorothea Sharp
  • a day at the seaside
  • signed l.l.: DOROTHEA SHARP
  • oil on canvas laid on board
  • 55.5 by 86.5 cm.; 21¾ by 34 in.

Condition

The canvas has been laid onto board. There are pinholes/ nailholes to each of the four edges of the canvas, and narrow lines of white paint residue running parallel to each edge (approx. 1 inch into the canvas from the edge), result of a previous framing. The main body of the canvas is lightly discoloured - would benefit from a light clean. There are large patches of craquelure to the surface, and some surface dirt. Ultraviolet light reveals no readily visible retouching. Unframed.
