Catalogue Note
Tibetan Buddhist images and ritual objects from the Qing dynastie Summer Palace at Chengde, 1999, p.127. cat. no.48.
The group is modeled after the Pala style of medieval eastern India, which was highly regarded during the Qianlong period. Numerous eighteenth century bronzes in this ungilded Pala style remain in the Palace Museum, Beijing, and at Chengde, the Qing Summer Palace; compare a very similar Guhyasamaja in the Chengde Palace Collection, see Hung Shih Chang and Jessica P. P. Hsu, chief eds, Tibetan Buddhist images and ritual objects from the Qing dynasty Summer Palace at Chengde, 1999, p. 127, cat. no. 48.
