Portrait of a Princely Youth, Sytle of Muhammad Sadiq, Qajar, Persia, Second-Half of the18th Century

The style of this portrait and its landscape background is close to the work of the eighteenth-century painter Muhammad Sadiq. A number of his works were formerly in the Amery collection, now in the Negaristan Museum, Tehran (S.J.Falk, Qajar Paintings, London, 1972, nos.4-7). The Negaristan picture of a prince on horseback attacked by a dragon (op. cit. no.4) has a similar landscape background and features an almost identical floppy-eared dog.
