of hexagonal form, with six faceted legs and arches, inlaid with mother-of-pearl, wood and lac, the top with a central stellar medallion encircled by interlocking polygons each with an arabesque of split-palmettes reserved on a lac ground, bordered by narrow keyfret and geometric bands, the sides with further panels of mother-of-pearl arabesques on a lac ground with stellar, cheque-board and chevron borders, with a band of calligraphy
