Catalogue Note
A similar example sold in these rooms, 24 October 2007, lot 288. Two vases of similar form are in the Suna and Inan Kiraç collection, (see Akalin and Bilgi 1997, p.66 and p.103, no.124.). The use of the light blue glaze and the arcaded peony design around the body is an indication of the influence of earlier Chinese blue and white kendis from the Ming dynasty that were in circulation in Turkey.
