The steel blade decorated with intertwining vine motifs chiselled in relief, similar floral scrolls in miniature twisted around the haft in gold overlay with a stylised flower head embellishing the two lateral sides

A remarkably similar axe-head, attributed to Turkey, eighteenth century, was shown at the formative exhibition of Islamic art in Munich in 1910 (see Die Ausstellung von Meisterwerken Muhammedanischer Kunst in München 1910, Tafel 243, no.507). The relevant plate from the catalogue is reproduced below.
