Catalogue Note
These rosewater sprinklers relate to a group of silver wares produced in Lucknow during the nineteenth century. Similar examples are illustrated in Wynyard R.T. Wilkinson, Indian Silver 1858-1947, London 1999, p.133-134, nos. 222-226). The 'coriander flower pattern' is seen on the openwork moulding on the neck and decorating the domed sprinkler. The floral scrolls used on the faceted section of the neck are also found on the body of a parcel gilt ewer from Lucknow c.1860 (ibid. p.133, no.222)
