of ovoid form, inlaid with gold and set with cut diamonds each side decorated with a flowering plant emanating from a vase issuing flowerheads and buds, later loop with claw-set diamond

This pendant is very similar in form and decoration to a seventeenth-century gem-set rock crystal scent bottle recorded in the 1690 Schedule from the collection at Burghley House (see Lincolnshire 1985, p.26, no. 27.)
