Description

  • A Paestan Red-figured Bell Krater, attributed to Python
  • Height 16 3/8 in. 41.5 cm.
painted in front with a phlyax running to left and holding a torch and string of pearls, followed by Dionysos holding a cup and thyrsos, two confronted draped youths on the reverse.

repaired from several fragments with small areas of restoration along joins, underside of foot ground down and with 2 1/2 inch long by 3/4 inch high restored chip, foot and handles repaired, body misfired overall, number 12 in black ink and scalloped rectangular paper label with number 12 in ink on underside of foot
