- A Hellenistic Terracotta Bust of a Maenad
- Height 15 3/4 in. 40 cm.
turned to her right, wearing a chiton fastened with a bow on her right shoulder and himation drawn up over the head as a veil, her face with dimpled chin and wide-set eyes, the centrally parted wavy hair bound in a wreath of ivy leaves and berries, the ends cascading down her neck; circular vent holes in the back, on top of the head, and below each shoulder.

Condition
very good for an object of this type, nose restored, chips along edges of bust, three ivy leaves missing and one chipped on proper right side, two chipped on proper left side, large chip in veil above proper left shoudler, back heavily encrusted and covered with same kind of thin root-marks as those visible on forehead, interior covered with similar root-marks; remains of an old label with blue border on back of veil above proper left shoulder
