Table legs of this type, in which all the elements (herm shaft, bust, and back pillar) are carved from a single piece of marble, are unusual compared to examples assembled from different pieces of colored marbles; for monolithic examples with related satyr herms, most wearing ivy wreaths, see Chr. Moss., Roman Marble Tables, doctoral diss., Princeton, 1988, Cat. nos. A232 (from Paestum) and A276 (Vatican Museums, Magazzini); for a non-monolithic example with similar bust see Cat. no. A215 (Naples Archaeological Museum, from Pompeii).
For non-monolithic examples of trapezophoroi with various Dionysiac herm busts see J. Ward-Perkins and A. Claridge, Pompeii A.D. 79, Boston and New York, 1978, no. 63, E.
