SURFACE: in generally good condition; surface has been compressed from relining, but there is generally good pigment retention UNDER ULTRA VIOLET: scattered inpainting--areas of what appears to be craquelure fill-in--upper center and lower left; two small repaired tears at center (one 2 in. long; the other 1 in. long--diagonals); a couple of spots at upper right
