Catalogue Note

Edward Boit lived and painted on both sides of the Atlantic and maintained several homes in which he had studios. He was a close friend of John Singer Sargent and they exhibited together frequently. His four daughters were immortalized in Sargent's famous group portrait, The Daughters of Edward Darley Boit.
