Catalogue Note
Bien que ce collier ait été précédemment attribué aux populations des îles Fidji, il provient en réalité selon toute vraisemblance des îles Gilbert, en Micronésie. Il est en effet très proche, dans sa construction, de l'ornement connu sous le nom de ririko, dont Koch (1965) offre une description détaillée. Ces colliers constituaient un héritage très précieux, transmis de génération en génération jusqu'à leur abandon, sous l'influence des missionnaires.
