Description

carved from hippopotamus ivory (hippopotamus amphibius); the human figure with spherical body and oval shaped head, pierced through the neck for suspension; exceptionally fine light yellow patina on the front and deep gold-brown patina on the reverse.

good condition overall for an object of this age and rarity; chipped on reverse with overlaying patina, age cracks on bottom and body as seen in photographs; exceptionally fine light patina on front and deep golden brown patina on reverse.
