Description

  • Height (including handle): 70 cm
this early and exceptional example is constructed of a sheet of folded bark moulded together with cane, native fibres and bush gums, the outer surface painted with red earth pigment pierced twice at the upper rear for attachment to a looped cane handle

Condition

The basket is in good condition overall with no visible restoration. There are some areas of native bush repair with resin, including a 20 cm crack at the reverse which has been repaired with resin.
