carved in hardwood of elongated ovoid form and plano-convex section, the reverse decorated with fluted linear and zig-zag motifs which appear to be unfinished and deep-cut handle, the face undecorated; old shiny patina

Condition
The shield appears to have been varnished at some point and there are many very minor scuffs and scratches on many areas of the shield's surface. There are no visible repairs or restoration.
