This watercolour appears to be the only remaining watercolour from a small collection of pictures of falcons and hawks by Harrison and George Lodge that Sir David Scott first began to purchase when he was a student. Falconry was one of Sir David's earliest passions commencing around 1903 when his parents rented Little Boughton (later called the Dower House) within the grounds of the Duke of Buccleuch's seat a Boughton House. An area of the garden was known as the Falconry Yard and it was here that he wrote his Falconry Diaries which were presented by the late Lady Scott to the British Library.
