STRUCTURE
Original canvas.
PAINT SURFACE
Paint separation scattered in areas. There is a small repaired damage to the centre right of the sky, and a spot of paint loss, upper centre.
ULATRVIOLET
UV light reveals the suggestion of minor spots of retouching although a thick varnish prevents a conclusive examination.
FRAME
Held in an ornate gilded composite frame; under glass and unexamined out of frame.

Catalogue Note
Calvert was born in Cork and exhibited at the Dublin Society of Artists, and at the Hibernian Society in 1815, before moving to London in 1827. He exhibited in London over the following years and in 1830 published Picturesque Views of Staffordshire and Shropshire as well as providing illustrations for Archaeological Journal.
