Catalogue Note

The four Dalziel brothers became well-known for their illustrated publications.  collection of their work was sold in these rooms on 16 May 1978 and showed the great breadth of their combined oeuvre. Thomas Bolton Gilchrist Dalziel was the youngest of the brothers, and favoured rustic subjects which recalled his childhood as a farmer's son in Northumberland, the present picture being a charming example.
