Provenance

By direct descent from the artist in a sketchbook to Colonel J. D. Hills, a housemaster at Eton College and later headmaster of Bradfield School;
Thomas Agnew & Sons, London, where bought by Sir David Scott, 25 November 1959 for 8 guineas

SHEET The sheet has not been laid down, but instead it has been attached to a backboard verso. MEDIUM The medium has been very well preserved. FRAME Held in a simple wooden frame
