Description

with a central medallion showing an amourous couple, surrounded by floral garland and hung with a flower basket, garlands and foliage
Condition
This tapestry has a later four-sided selvedge. As a result of this addition, the edges of the tapestry have been covered (or turned under). This does not effect the overall balance of the composition. Good colour balance overall. Colour of ground, although probably darker than when originally woven is attractive. There is some reweaving and repair in areas, for example to the top right and bottom right corners, visible as the bows for example are a different colour. There is some reweaving to far edges, for example up the left side and other areas, visible as the different creamier colour. Some edges dirty. Central medallion in good condition. There is a faint water mark to the top section of the sky, cream ground, as visible in the photograph.
Tapestry is in very good professionally restored condition. Highly decorative tapestry panel of a versatile size. Recommended.
