Condition
The overall condition is good, with the inevitblae minor dents, marks and scratches due to age and use. Possibly formerly with painted or gilt surface. One leg restored. The upholstery with restorations and areas of re-weaving

`February', A Gobelins Months Tapestry, from the series `Les Douze Mois Grotesques', first half 18th century, after designs by Claude Audran (the Younger), Antoine Watteau and Alexandre-Francoise Desportes.
Fom the set of twelve designs in the series, each month woven with the sign of the zodiac and the corresponding deity, and this panel here depicts February: Pisces, and Neptune standing on a shell, with demi-lune coral encrusted lambrequin above a sea-horse above a ship enclosed by blue acanthus leaves.
