Catalogue Note
This composition is closely based on a drawing by Nicolaes Berchem, sold, Amsterdam, Christie's, 25 November 1992, lot 603. An etching of the same composition exists by Jan de Visscher (see F.W.H. Hollstein, Dutch and Flemish Etchings, Engravings and Woodcuts, ca. 1450-1700, Amsterdam 1949, vol. I, p. 279, no. 361).
