bombé oval, the gadroon rim with double shells flanked by foliage at intervals, raised on four paw feet headed by rosebuds and foliage and with reeded loop handles terminating in acanthus, engraved on one side with contemporary arms and supporters, the domed cover crested and with gadrooned band, with conforming loop finial terminating in lion heads and centered by a flowerhead, fully marked on base, cover and finial, body and cover dot numbered

The arms are those of Owen impaling Morgan for Sir Hugh Owen Owen, 2nd Bart. of Orielton, Co. Pembroke.  Owen was born in 1803 and married Angelina Maria Cecilia, sister of the 1st Lord Tredegar, on 12 April 1825.  Presumably this turreen was commissioned for their wedding.  Owen served as an aide de camp to Queen Victoria and was a Member of Parliament for Pembroke from 1826 to 1838, and again from 1861 to 1868.  He died in 1891.
