Losses and repairs to marble tops, one now with break to left corner now with small losses to the top, braces underneath, chips and losses, the other with repaired breaks and infilling and braces to the underside. The older table base with overgilding and losses to gilding throughout, scuffing and chips to feet, cracking and peeling to gilding of back legs. Second table with overgilding, losses and chips to gilding, interior framing now fitted with two strips of wood, possibly once used a stand for cabinet.

William H. Lever, later Viscount Leverhulme, was one of the most prolific collectors of English furniture in the first quarter of the 20^th century.  The major portion of his collection is now in the Lady Lever Art Gallery, and the contents of his London residence, The Hill, Hampstead, were sold after his death in New York at the Anderson Art Galleries, February 1926.  The remaining part of his collection was sold by the executors of the last Viscount Leverhulme by Sotheby's at Thornton Manor, The Wirral, Merseyside, June 26-28, 2001
