Condition

The canvas is unlined and is in good original condition. There is a faint stretcher mark running along the upper edge. There is some extremely minor craquelure in the upper left quadrant which is almost invisible. The surface of the paint is quite dirty. Examination under ultra-violet light reveals minor spots of retouching in the upper left and right corners and in a small area along the right edge. Held in a painted composition frame. Painted circa 1922, the present work relates to Les Arcades de la Poissonnerie, Dieppe (Baron, no.138.1), painted in 1900, and held in the Tate collection.
