Catalogue Note
Wolmark arrived in Concarneau on 20th July 1911 with his new wife Bessie on their honeymoon. They spent 10 weeks at the Hotel des Voyageurs and Wolmark was instantly captivated by the vibrant life of the seaside fishing community. During their stay, Wolmark completely changed his painting style and adopted a more vibrant and colourful palette as well as a more boldly impastoed handling that is evident in the vivid tones and texture of the present work.
