Condition

The canvas is in good original condition. The paint surface is in good overall condition. Examination under ultra-violet light reveals a few minor spots of retouching along the lower edge. Catalogue Note

According to Anne Thorold (op.cit.,p.66) the Hall has been identified by John Bensusan-Butt as Coopersale Hall, Essex. The hamlets of Coopersale Common and Coopersale Street lie immediately to the east of Epping.
