Condition

Each canvas is in good original condition. Left hand panel: The paint appears to be lifting very slightly in a tiny area in the lower left quadrant. Right hand panel: There are some minor spots of craquleure in the thicker paint in the upper and lower left quadrants. There are minor traces of dirt across the surfaces of both canvases but otherwise the paint surfaces are in good overall condition. There is no sign of retouching under ultra-violet light. Catalogue Note

Richard Lin was born in Taiwan but came to England to study at Millfield School. Lin studied architecture for four years at Regent Street Polytechnic in the mid 1950s and had the first of a series of one man exhibitions at Gimpel Fils in 1959 before exhibiting internationally in Holland, America and Germany. His work is held by the Tate Collection, the Arts Council and the Walker Art Gallery.
