Condition

The work is on wove paper which has not been laid down. There are artist's pinholes in all four corners. There is a crease, approximately 4cm. long, in the upper left quadrant. Examination of the reverse of the sheet reveals scattered areas of foxing. Many of these foxmarks are visible on the front of the sheet. A piece of masking tape has been attached to the reverse of the sheet in the centre of the bottom edge. This is to reinforce a old tear, approximately 3cm. in length. There is also a piece of tape which has been attached to the upper edge, but this does not appear to serve any purpose. There are three tiny abrasions to the paint surface, one in the upper right quadrant, one in the lower right quadrant and one in the lower left quadrant. Otherwise the paint surface is in good overall condition and the colours have retained their vigour. There is no sign of retouching under ultra-violet light. Held under glass and presented in a wooden and plaster gilded frame with a running leaf pattern.
