Catalogue Note

Comme beaucoup d'artistes de son époque, Paul Lecomte a peint La Rochelle, fasciné par son port historique et ses deux célèbres tours médiévales. Très sensible, comme l'était Corot, à la lumière si particulière de La Rochelle, il aimait y peindre les reflets du soleil jouant sur l'eau ainsi que sur les façades des monuments.
Ce joli paysagiste s'est toujours attaché à représenter des fleuves, des lacs, des ports, etc... Cela lui permettait d'approfondir son travail sur la lumière dont les reflets sont multipliés par l'eau.
