Catalogue Note
Antoine Vollon débuta sa carrière à Lyon où il apprit la gravure sur métaux et fréquenta les Beaux Arts. Très influencé par son contemporain Gustave Courbet, il fit partie du mouvement réaliste fondé par ce dernier. Influencé par la peinture espagnole du XVIIème siècle, redécouverte grâce à la galerie Espagnole de Louis Philippe, il a peint des natures mortes et des scènes de genre souvent sombres et austères.
