Il s'agit probablement du tableau commandé par Louis XVIII à Hersent. Le roi voulait un tableau représentant la jeune artiste Lizynka Rue sous les traits de Ruth, dans le passage de la Bible où elle vient demander au vieux Booz sa protection.
