  • armoire height 8 ft. 7 in.; width 6 ft. 5 1/4 in.; depth 28 1/2 in.
  • 261.5 cm; 196.5 cm; 72.5 cm
comprising a large armoire, a bed and two bedside cabinets en suite, the assymetric armoire fitted with a large glazed door and open shelving and cupboard compartments, the upper right compartment opening to an arrangement of arched pigeon holes flanked by columns, all columns sliding out to reveal secret compartments, the lower compartment opening to two drawers, each bedside cabinet surmounted by a later inset portor marble top and with a frieze drawer and cupboard door.

Condition

Overall in good condition with the usual chips, nicks, dents and scratches to wood consistent with age and use. Mirrors on bedside cabinets replaces. Pivoting door on armoire has scratched the frame. Worm damage throughout. Stress cracks to sides of armoire.

Catalogue Note

Luigi Frullini (1839-1897) was a celebrated woodcarver and sculptor who exhibited work at the 1862 London International Exhibition as well as at the Paris 1867 and 1878 Expositions Universelles. A folio stand is now in the permanent collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, a suite of library and dining room furniture is in the Philadelphia Museum of Art and a large cabinet exhibited at the 1878 Paris Exhibition Universelle is now at the Musée d'Orsay, Paris.
