A large Italian carved fruitwood console and mirror Tuscany, circa 1885

the oval mirror plate adorned by berried olive branches to one side and acorn and oak branches to the other interspersed by frolicking putti, the bottom with the entwined branches tied by a bow and centered by a monogramed medallion, the shell carved D-shaped console similarly decorated and raised on paw feet centered by a grotesque mask. 

Overall in good condition with age cracks to the naturalistic base. Chips and nicks around paw feet. The putti holding the console top with a visible crack to his left arm consistent with a past restoration. All putti are applied to the console and mirror with screws and therefore there is new hardware. Age cracks visible to putti in a few places and with circular patch filling what might have been natural timber damage. Three putti have losses to fingers; two putti each with two fingers missing on right hand, the other with thumb on right hand and little finger on left hand missing. The piece has been varnished now showing some flaking in places. Some white paint drops on the top and reverse of console. One putti with visible crack and restoration to right ankle.
