The bird has been cleanly off the base and restored back with no collateral damage to the bird; tiny chip to one flower head.

Paul Comolera (1818-1897) was a sculptor in bronze noted for his life-size animal and bird models. After executing some work for Boulanger & Cie. in the 1860s and early 70s he moved to Mintons in 1873.
