Catalogue Note

Two micromosaic plaques of a cavalier by Tarantoni are in the Gilbert Collection and interestingly one of them (MM70) is virtualy identical to the present lot. The Gilbert Collection was formed over a thirty-five year period by the late Sir Arthur Gilbert and was given by the latter to the British nation, now the Museum of the Gilbert Collection at Somerset House, London.
