A FINE ITALIAN EBONY, EBONIZED, ENGRAVED IVORY AND HARDSTONE CENTER TABLE FLORENCE, CIRCA 1865

in the Renaissance revival manner, the molded edge top centered by a rectangular scene depicting Amerigo Vespucci discovering the Americas and accompanied by marine deities, set within an elaborate border with lapis lazuli, red porphyry and tortoiseshell inset cabochons, the frieze fitted with a long drawer, tapering supports joined by a shaped stretcher centered by a case finial.

Overall in good original condition. The top table has been varnished and now shows a yellow color to the ivory that could be removed. The ivory is cracked and has some uplifting. There is a long horizontal crack to the table top throughout the table width and is consistent with structure movement due to age and temperature changes. Minor scratches and nicks in places. Please note this lot contains endangered species and CITES permits will be necessary for export. Please contact the department with any questions.
