A rare Minton majolica large plant trough circa 1870

of rectangular form, molded on the front and reverse with a panel of two cherubs holding aloft a female portrait roundel, reserved on a pale blue ground above molded turquoise-glazed gadroons, the trough supported at each end by a pair of scroll brackets with winged female head terminals and hoof feet, suspending leaf and daisy swags, further supported at each end by lion's masks. One leg repaired, minor cracks.

There is an 8 in. crack running across the center of the interior through the drain hole and probably firing-related. One foot has been off and restored back on; a small restored flake to the nose of one female head.
