Description

  • length 22 1/4 in.
  • 56.5 cm
molded in high relief on each side with a pair of cherubs perched on a ribbon and flower swag suspended from molded rosettes and female mask handles at either end, impressed shape number 280. Some losses to cherubs and minor restoration. Together with a majolica wall bracket, circa 1870-80, possibly English, molded with a pair of cherubs amongst fruiting vine above an angel's mask. Minor restoration. 2 pieces.

Condition

Jardinière: one cherub's arm on one side is a restored replacement, now detached; another's arm is missing; two cherub's feet on the same side are restored; small chip to one cherub's finger and hair; one cherub's knee and arm on the other side are missing and the other cherub's arm is restored and both cherub's feet are restored. There are some very minor chips to the flower swag and several very well done small restored areas to the rim. Bracket: some well-done restoration to one corner.
