Catalogue Note

The present model is closely related to a François Linke breakfront vitrine, index number 161, which sold Christie's London, March 29, 2007, lot 72. It is interesting to note that Linke produced a number of different variations to this well referenced model. Here, unlike Linke Archive 161, stated above, the vitrine bears the master's signature "crab-like acanthus" mount to the lower center of the glazed door, a Linke "signature" first identified by Christopher Payne in Nineteenth Century European Furniture, 1981.
