Description

  • height 7 ft.; width 51 in.; depth 23 3/4 in.
  • 213.5 cm; 129.5 cm; 60.5 cm
fitted with two large doors mounted with a pair of facing winged victories holding a spear above stylized mermaids and centered by a fruiting oak leaf wreath, one drawer to bottom.

Condition

Overall in good condition with the usual minor scratches, dents and nicks consistent with age and use. Slight tarnishing to gilt-bronze in places. All bronzes have been cleaned and remounted with later hardware. Some liftings to veneer and some losses around edges with traces of veneer restorations throughout, some important repairs to top and bottom of doors. There is a vertical crack to the left side of approximately 14 inches. Please note that the bottom right corner of the right door has broken during exhibition and has been professionally restored at Sotheby's cost. There is now some veneer replacement.
