the breakfronted upper section surmounted by a Belgian black marble molded top above a central cupboard door opening to a rosewood veneered interior and one shelf, flanked by two cupboards above three small drawers with spring released catch, the lower part fitted with a writing slide above a further three frieze drawers, the cabinet decorated with finely painted porcelain plaques in the manner of François Boucher, stamped twice HEUBES to the underside.

Overall in good condition with the usual minor scratches, dents and nicks consistent with age and use. Slight tarnishing to gilt-bronze in places. Discoloration to latter velvet lined writing surface. Some minor losses to ebony veneers in places.

Hubert-Joseph Heubès was recorded as having a shop at 12, rue du Parc-Royal in 1854, then at 3, rue de la Pèrle between 1860 and 1876. He was a participant at the 1867 Paris Exposition Universelle and his oeuvre consisted mostly of fine mounted cabinets, as in the present model.
