the clock case surmounted by a sunburst centered by a female mask above floral garlands, the black and polychrome painted enamel dial with Arabic chapters and set within a diamond cut glass wreath pendulum, the twin train movement stamped 199, the pendulum stamped RA and numbered 199, with accompanying Chinese export mahogany display cabinet. 

The clock in good condition with the usual traces of tarnishing to gilt-bronze consistent with age. The ceramic with traces of dirt. Winding key, pendulum and striking bell available. The display case with the usual minor scratches and dents in places consistent with age. The platform undertier with hairline cracks consistent with wood shrinkage. Loss to one side of pagoda shaped cornice.

The present clock is based on a model designed circa 1785, now at the Victoria and Albert Museum, see Vergolte Bronzen, Vol II, page 252, pl. 4.6.26. Another two eighteenth century models are in the permanent collection of the English Royal collection. Interesting, this clock was given to Mr. and Mrs. Worchester Warner by John D. Rockefeller, and later gifted to the library, and records shows that the case was commissioned by the Warners to Louis Tiffany around 1900.
