Description

  • height 39 in.; diameter 25 in.
  • 99 cm; 63.5 cm
the candelabra composed of eighteen acanthus cast branches terminating with rock crystal finials, twelve fitted with light sockets and centered by a long rock crystal spear finial surrounded by a twisted acanthus branch terminating in a further spear finial, all decorated with grapes and pear shaped drops and raised on a shaped Egyptian porphyry bases. Electrified.

Condition

Overall in good condition with the usual minor scratches, wear and discoloration to patina being consistent with age and use. Minor dents and nicks in places to surface. Slight traces of dirt. Some minor accidents to rock crystal finials, all mostly composed of several parts. All will need to be taken apart and reassembled. Some losses and breaks to glass.

Catalogue Note

The attribution to Henry Dasson is based on the high quality gilt-bronze mounts and the use of red porphyry, a combination used frequently on luxurious works of art created by this eminent cabinetmaker and bronzier .
