Description

  • height 46 in.; width 59 in.; depth 19 3/4 in.
  • 117 cm; 150 cm; 50 cm
surmounted by an inset white marble top, the frieze centered by a finely cast and chased mount to the efigy of Apollo, above a pair of cupboard doors decorated with musical trophies, stained European walnut burr inlay interior with two shelves.

Condition

Overall in good condition with the usual minor scratches, wear and discoloration to patina being consistent with age and use. Minor dents and nicks in places to surface. Slight traces of dirt. Visible restoration to left back side of the marble. Accident to canted left hand side corner resulting in a loss of molded Mahogany just beneath the bronze edge. Repair to right end side laurel garland located to upper part of the fluted column. Some gilt-bronze mounts would need to be tightened.

Catalogue Note

Althougth apparently unsigned, the present cabinet meets the highest Parisian cabinet making standards.  The elaborate and inventive bronze designs on the present lot could have been manufactured by such masters as Sormani, Dasson or Grohé.
