Description

  • height 5ft.; width 30 1/2 in.
  • 152.5cm; 77.5cm
surmounted by a ribbon-tied bow above three medallions with the head of Medusa and flanked by classical urns above scrolled acanthus carved decoration, the rectangular plate with lion masks.

Condition

Overall in good condition with the usual scratches, dents and nicks consistent with age and use. Traces of glue around the urn on the left hand side as a result of restoration. Original painted decoration and gilding as well as the original ribbon decoration on the top. The mirror plate with pitting to mercury consistent with age. Wear to gilding in places. Both lower side acanthus decorations are slightly detached from the main frame as the original glue has dried (this is consistent with time). Chips especially around the edges of the frame.
