Condition

Good condition, on cradled, stable panel, 1 inch vertical scratch upper left corner, dot of loss off center back of figure on right; under UV: a very few thin lines of inpainting to figure on left, pindot of inpainting to base of spine and chin of figure on left.

Catalogue Note

Heinrich Voss records three known studies for the present work and dates it to circa 1906 (Voss, p. 291).  However, based on a comparative study of the Von Stuck signature a more accurate date for the work is circa 1910.
